- Content Summary:
-
The report, which is in English, describes visits to Brisbane, St. Lawrence, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Normanton, Burketown, Hughenden, Bowen, Biboohra, Longreach, Barcaldine and Gladstone. It is divided into four sections: (i) contract for manufacture of extract of beef at Broadsound Meat Company works at St. Lawrence, (ii) possible contracts with other Australian meatworks, (iii) possible acquisition of North Queensland Meat Export Company at Alligator Creek, (iv) survey of cattle industry and meatworks in Australia. There are twenty appendices. Dutting and Rotter opposed entering into contact with or purchasing any Australian meatworks, including the Broadsound Meat Company. They considered that the acquisition of North Queensland Meat Export Company might be justified in order to obtain a footing in a country other than South America.
