Letters from A. Lang, 16 January 1899-16 December 1899

Component identifier:
Subseries
Extent:
12 items
Content Summary:

1Lang did not give the year, in addition to the day and month, when writing his letters. On some letters the year 1899 has been added by another hand (? Mr. Penniman), and the assumption is made that all the letters recorded below are dated in that year.

Lang's handwriting was notoriously bad. There may be mis-readings

A. Lang's letters to B.S. stop at 7 Sept 1899, for 3 months, but the envelope also contains 3 letters from Lang to Mr. G.A. MacMillan of Macmillan and Co., which must have been passed to B.S. (see No. 12).

Due to the method of filming the last page of some letters may run onto the next item.
