'Primitiae Florae Insularum Oceani Pacifici sive Catalogus Plantarum in Otaheite, Eimeo, Otaha, Huaheine and Ulaietea A.C. MDCCLXIX, diebus 13 Aprilis - 9 Augusti collectarum.' (186p.)

Component identifier:
Item 18
Content Summary:

This manuscript flora includes Solander's descriptions of the plants collected at the Society Islands from April to August 1769. Solander copied his original descriptions (see Nos. 2a and 2b) onto slips and rearranged them systematically. These were then copied by an amanuensis, on the voyage, to produce this flora. Marshall (1978) has identified the handwriting as that of Bank's secretary H.D. Sporing.

The last five pages are a more recent, incomplete index in another hand.
