'A fair copy of the descriptions of animals observed during Capt. Cook's first voyage.' (512p.)
- Component identifier:
- File 42 (Sol.Z4)
- Content Summary:
-
A collection of loose sheets now in a slip case, but only loosely tied together until the 1950s (Marshall, 1978). Marshall claims that many sheets are obviously missing, but there is little evidence to support this. It is, however, incomplete and unfinished and some entries have no relevance to Cook's voyage.
The writing is identified as that of Amanuensis B by Marshall (1978).
The manuscript is composed of Aves (p.1-123), reptiles (p.125-131), Amphibia Nantes (rays, sharks, trigger-fish, etc) (p.133-197), fishes (p.199-277), invertebrates (p.279-511).
