'List of specimens of birds, and mammals brought back from Cook's third voyage, with notes on fishes and lists of species but not related to Cook's voyage.' (22p.)

Component identifier:
File 44 (Sol.Z6)
Content Summary:

A note by A.M. Lysaght with the manuscript identifies the first 16 folios as Dryander's list of birds and mammals from the third voyage with a list of the drawings by Ellis and Webber and the remainder of the manuscript by Solander. A note by J.B. Marshall, however, identifies the whole as by Dryander. Marshall (1978) refers to this manuscript as a 'Catalogue of W.W. Ellis's and J. Webber's Drawings of Birds and Fishes made during Capt. Cook's Third Voyage'. This is not an accurate description.

Folios 1-15 are concerned with birds and 16 lists two mammals, these form the list of the Ellis and Webber drawings. Folios 17-22 contain lists of fishes within various genera, mainly European, and thus have no relevance to the third voyage.

It is questionable whether it should be attributed to Solander as clearly being in Dryander's hand it could be merely a compilation from Solander's labels on specimens, and identifications of drawings.
