The International Ballet was established in 1940 by Mona Inglesby, principal dancer and director of the company. Its first performance was in 1941. Algeranoff joined the Ballet in 1943, where he met his wife Claudie, a prima ballerina with the company whom he married in 1945. Algeranoff left the Ballet in 1953 when he accompanied Claudie to Australia.

- The Algeranoff Papers were donated to the Library by Algeranoff's son, Noel Essex, in 1969 and 1971.
