Slessor was a member of the Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Literary Fund (CLF) from 1953 to 1971. This series includes correspondence (1958-1971), agenda and minutes of meetings of the Advisory Board (1964-1971) and reports (1959-1971). Other papers include typescripts of some of the CLF lectures about Australian poetry and poets that Slessor gave at the University of Sydney in 1954, and newspaper cuttings dealing with Australian writers and the CLF.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The papers of the poet and journalist Kenneth Slessor were offered to the National Library by his brother Robin Slessor, executor of the will, after his death in 1971. The National Library purchased the papers in 1972. Eight additional consignments of papers received by the Library between 1979 and 2000 were variously purchased from Robin Slessor, Paul Slessor and Peter Elder.
