Newscuttings, 1916-1986

Component identifier:
Series 6
Content Summary:
This series consists of newscuttings and some journal articles which document van Praagh's long career as a dancer, teacher and producer of ballet. The earliest cuttings cover her childhood period and her first performances at the seaside while on family holidays. While the majority of cuttings relate to van Praagh, they also include items of interest on all aspects of ballet and dance. Most of the cuttings have been provided by a newscuttings agency.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the National Library in four instalments in 1986, 1995, 1999 and 2001. The original instalment was donated by Peggy van Praagh. The additional instalments were forwarded by the executors of her estate.
