Content Summary:

Van Praagh's first book How I became a ballet dancer was published in 1954. In collaboration with Peter Brinson, she wrote The choreographic art, which was published in 1963. Her third work, Ballet in Australia was published as part of the series The Arts in Australia in 1966. Van Praagh also wrote many journal articles and papers.

This series consists of various draft chapters for a revised edition of The choreographic art and correspondence relating to its publication. There are also galley proofs and a copy of her later publication, Ballet in Australia, copies of articles by van Praagh, biographical notes and book reviews.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the National Library in four instalments in 1986, 1995, 1999 and 2001. The original instalment was donated by Peggy van Praagh. The additional instalments were forwarded by the executors of her estate.
