General Newspaper Cuttings

Content Summary:
There is a large collection of loose newspaper cuttings dating from 1895 until 1969. Where possible they have been arranged chronologically. In addition ten scrap-books contain Ivy's cuttings, mostly relating to social and cultural activities of the family. Many newspaper articles have been placed in the series to which they refer.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers of Herbert Brookes were presented to the National Library in April 1967 by his widow Ivy Deakin Brookes. In October 1967 she deposited her own extensive collection, and together they form the Brookes Papers.
