These papers include Ivy Brookes' reports from Merton Hall, and the conservatorium of Music, an indenture dated 1921 between Pattie Deakin and Ivy concerning "Llanarth" the Deakin home; Alfred Deakin's bible given to the Brookes in 1919; one of Herbert's sketch books; and Ivy's address book. There are also notes on the family tree of the Brookes and Robinson families, and a note book dated 1869 belong to William Brookes.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers of Herbert Brookes were presented to the National Library in April 1967 by his widow Ivy Deakin Brookes. In October 1967 she deposited her own extensive collection, and together they form the Brookes Papers.
