Airlines, c.1910-c.1985

Component identifier:
Series 3
Content Summary:

Comprises a wide range of papers, collected directly by Crome, given to him, and some presumably acquired from dealers. Papers includes original flight logs, ephemera such as baggage tags and stickers, and some research notes and correspondence.

The series reflects Crome's long running interest in the Australian aviation industry, starting from the earliest airlines.

There are related papers in Series 28 (Aviation and tourism serials and ephemera), although items in that series are looser and more published in nature.

Folders have been arranged alphabetically by airline or subject, and chronologically within subjects.

When the collection was processed in 1970 this series was listed in some detail. Since 1970 the series expanded and about half of the papers now in the series were not described. The original folders have been left intact although given new folder numbers. References for the old folder numbers, and the original 1970 list are available upon request.
