Correspondence, c.1800-1987

Component identifier:
Series 7
Content Summary:

Comprises a wide range of correspondence, including copies of much of Crome's outgoing correspondence. Most relates to Crome's collecting activities, such as correspondence with dealers, collectors, and collecting institutions, mostly the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (Powerhouse Museum) and the National Library of Australia.

The series also contains letters that were collected by Crome, rather than written to or from him. These include a group of submissions to The Bulletin.

Most papers were already in folders or groups, but had little inherent order. The original groupings have been retained. Folders have been arranged chronologically.

Folders 102-130 (4 boxes) are not available for access until 2012. Most papers in folders 102-130 were originally loose within boxes, but do appear related chronologically.
