Also includes Andrew Garran's diaries, 1860-1901, notebooks, thesis, and press editiorials as well as general family correspondence and some diaries of Mary Isham Garran, Andrew's daughter. Major correspondents include R. H. Alsop, C. E. W. Bean, Blake Riggall Solicitors, E. J. Bowater, Sir Richard Boyer, J. R. Casboulte, C. S. Daley, John Garran, R. M. Johnson, D. Ohlfsen, John Reynolds, W. N. Rowse, Roy S. Smith, and Russell V. Williams.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The bulk of the Garran Papers were obtained shortly before and immediately after Sir Robert Garran's death in 1957, from Garran's son, John Garran. Further papers were located in 1968 in the possession of another son, Richard Garran.
