Papers include: correspondence and papers relating to the Status of Women Council (SWC) of which Street was Vice-Chairman, including minutes of the inaugural meeting of SWC in Tasmania held in Hobart in August 1947 and minutes of a meeting held in November 1947, a copy of the Constitution, a copy of proposed amendments to the International Bill of Human Rights submitted by Street on behalf of the SWC; and an invitation to Street to take part in a project to record 26 outstanding women of the world discussing the SWC; correspondence relating to activities of the United Associations of Women and those of the Australian Woman's Charter, of which Street was Chairman and a copy of a letter from Prime Minister, Ben Chifley, regarding the issue of equal pay for equal work. Immediate source of acquisition:
Jessie Street's husband, Sir Kenneth Street, donated the papers to the National Library in 1970. Her son, Sir Laurence Street, made a substantial addition in 1972. Further small additions were made to the collection between 1973 and 2001.
