Papers include: typescripts of writings by Street entitled 'Married Women' and 'Housewives must act' together with a number of pamphlets on various issues relating to women's rights from organisations that include Trades and Labour Council of QLD; The Open Door International for the economic emancipation of the woman worker, London; National Union of Women Teachers, London; the Equal Pay Committee, Melbourne; and the International Labour Organisation, Geneva. There is also a booklet entitled 'Combined Equal Pay Committee of Western Australia' which was prepared for a deputation to the WA Premier (1960).
Immediate source of acquisition:
Jessie Street's husband, Sir Kenneth Street, donated the papers to the National Library in 1970. Her son, Sir Laurence Street, made a substantial addition in 1972. Further small additions were made to the collection between 1973 and 2001.
