Papers include typescripts of writings by Street entitled 'New education for the new age', 'The universal declaration of human rights and how it applies in Australia', 'Women in politics', and 'The future of women in politics'. There are also pamphlets, the First Annual Report of the Democratic Women's Association (1938) and a United States Department of Labor publication 'The legal status of women in the United States of America', 1938.
Immediate source of acquisition:
Jessie Street's husband, Sir Kenneth Street, donated the papers to the National Library in 1970. Her son, Sir Laurence Street, made a substantial addition in 1972. Further small additions were made to the collection between 1973 and 2001.
