Kent Hughes went to Christ Church, Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship in 1920 and graduated as a BA with honours in Modern History in 1922. While in Oxford, he took an active part in various sporting activities, including track and field and skiing.
The series comprises lecture notes, some of which are in notebooks. Kent Hughes' correspondence with his family is in Series 1/ Files 5-7 and his correspondence with his friends from Oxford is in Series 2/ Files 1 and 7. Other related papers are in Series 4/ File 10.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The collection was donated to the National Library, in several instalments between 1973 and 1991, by Lady Kent Hughes and her daughters, Mrs Janet Derham, Mrs Margaret Sasse and Dr Mary Lou Sheil.
