In 1927 Kent Hughes stood for the Victorian Parliament as a Nationalist candidate and was elected as the Member for Kew. He was Minister for Transport and Education in 1947 and Minister for Transport and Electrical Undertaking between 1947 and 1949 in the Ministry led by Tom Hollway.
The series include a small quantity of correspondence and other papers on various subjects, including the Victorian elections and houses for migrants.
