Kent Hughes became the Victorian Minister for Transport and Education in 1947 and Minister for Transport and Election Undertakings in 1947-49. This small series comprises correspondence and other papers relating to these portfolios, in some cases extending into the early 1950s. The correspondents include Les Norman, Norman Martin and Tom Lingford

The collection was donated to the National Library, in several instalments between 1973 and 1991, by Lady Kent Hughes and her daughters, Mrs Janet Derham, Mrs Margaret Sasse and Dr Mary Lou Sheil.
