Content Summary:
In 1972 the Victorian Government commissioned a memorial Bronze plaques to commemorate Kent Hughes' services to amateur sport. Replicas of the plaques were awarded to former Olympic gold medallists: Herb Elliott, Ralph Doubell, the late Russell Mockridge (received by his wife, Irene), Tony Marchant and Ian Browne. The papers include note and cuttings.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the National Library, in several instalments between 1973 and 1991, by Lady Kent Hughes and her daughters, Mrs Janet Derham, Mrs Margaret Sasse and Dr Mary Lou Sheil.
