Dr Wilfred Kent Hughes was the father of Sir Wilfrid. During World War I, he was appointed as Chief Surgeon to the Anglo-Russian Hospital in Petrograd. This small series comprises the account of his journey to Russia, via Norway and Sweden, in 1917 and his passport.
His correspondence with Sir Wilfrid is in Series 1/ Files 5-6.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The collection was donated to the National Library, in several instalments between 1973 and 1991, by Lady Kent Hughes and her daughters, Mrs Janet Derham, Mrs Margaret Sasse and Dr Mary Lou Sheil.
