Content Summary:

Shirley Andrews travelled in the Pacific, South America, South-East Asia and Europe as well as within Australia throughout her life. This series contains handwritten notebooks of her travel experiences, travel documents, articles written by Andrews and a few photographs. Series 5 includes papers relating to Andrews' trips to Europe and China in 1951 and 1953. There is a separate small collection of letters and postcards from Andrews to Arthur Turnbull, a dance colleague, which includes accounts of her travels (MS 9880).

Immediate source of acquisition:
Shirley Andrews bequeathed her papers to Wendy Lowenstein and Lucy Stockdale. The papers were purchased by the Library from Lowenstein and Stockdale in 2002 and 2003 respectively. The audio-visual material held in the Oral History Section was received in 2005 from Stockdale.
