- Series 5
- Content Summary:
- Andrews joined the Communist Party of Australia (CPA) in 1945 and in 1951 attended the World Youth and Student Festival in Berlin, afterwards touring other parts of Europe with the Unity Dance Group. The bulk of the papers in this series consist of notebooks, photographs and postcards collected during the 1951 trip to Berlin and Europe. There are also some photos from a 1953 trip to China, a few items from Andrews' earlier involvement with the CPA, notably some photographs of, and a letter from, Bill Bird, a note from John Morrison of the Realist Writers Group and two inscribed publications by Len Fox. Other papers in the series reflect Andrews' later interests in social and political issues and consist of published material and five letters written by Andrews about the ABC and workers' rights. A songbook produced by the Eureka Youth League and two other books of freedom and workers songs are in Series 20, File 1.
