On cover of file: 'This file has been preserved for historical reasons as a fair example of the many claims for compensation which the Japanese began to formulate when they had had time to measure up the possibilities under the benevolent occupation'. It actually covers the claims made by fishermen of the Shioya area about the damage to their livelihood caused by a move of the water intake for the Shioya Country Club swimming pool.

- Harold and Gertrude (Jean) Williams between 1978 and 1995 donated the collection to the Library in numerous instalments. Further material was added in 2002 and 2005.
