- The Journal covers a trip made in Sep 1982 to the Kimberley with Mary Durack; Vince Serventy, Geoffrey Dutton, accompanied by Carol Serventy, Nin Dutton and Alex Bortignon. Locations referred to include: Broome, Derby, King Leopold Ranges, Windjana Gorge, Prince Regent River , Drysdale National Park and River, Kalumburu, Wyndham, Lake Argyle and the Ord River, Kununurra, Balgo, Hall's Creek, Fossil Downs, Fitzroy Crossing, Geike Gorge and Hooker's Creek. Reflections on: his notational approach; the landscape and its vastness, mood and tonality; discussions at mission stations; meetings with indigenous people and their issues; and rock art. Note: this journal is linked to Journals 16 (No. 3) and 21 (No. 1) which together form a record of related trips to northwest Australia, the outcome of which included an exhibition of works by Olsen and the publications: 'Land Beyond Time: a Modern Exploration of Australia's North Western Frontiers', and 'Land beyond time/ paintings and drawings by John Olsen'.
