The series comprises drafts of book reviews and articles.
Papers relating to Rivett's 1959 campaign against the death sentence of Rupert Stuart, an Aborigine who had been convicted of murder, were added to the series in August 1998. They include notes and drafts of Rivett's writings, letters from members of the public, family, friends and colleagues and newspaper cuttings.

- The collection was presented to the National Library by Mrs Nancy Rivett in 1989. Further papers were donated in 1998.
