War Service - Borneo, 1945

Content Summary:
Black transferred to the Army School of Civil Affairs, Duntroon, Canberra where military government personnel were trained for Papua New Guinea and Borneo. In mid-1945 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in command of Task Force Detachment 3B, BBCAU (British Borneo Civil Affairs Unit). He was located in Labuan, Brunei, Sarawak and British Borneo until mid-1946. The papers in this series are largely roneoed notes issued to personnel.
Immediate source of acquisition:
MS 8346 was bequeathed to the Library by John Black in 1988. At the request of the family, to enable Robin Radford to complete her research, it remained in Adelaide until 1992. In 1999 Dr Bill Gammage added a substantial collection of photographs taken on the Hagen-Sepik Patrol of 1938-39. They have been placed in Series 3. Further papers were received in 2011.
