In 1974, Penberthy was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Australian Music Centre. The aim of the Centre was to promote and assist in the development of music and specifically Australian composers and musicians in Australia and the involvement of music in the community as widely as possible. Papers in this series relate to the business of the Centre and include correspondence, financial statements, minutes of meetings and reports. There is also a listing (1994) of works by Penberthy, which are held at the Centre.
