Violin music

Component identifier:
Series 1
Content Summary:
The violin music comprises the largest part of the collection and is arranged into the subseries short pieces, concerti, orchestral scores, duets and trios, and studies and exercises. Within the subseries the pieces are arranged alphabetically by composer. Some of the material has markings and annotations, presumably attributable to Kruse. Much of it is inscribed with Kruse's name and position, "Concertmeister", and a substantial amount is also stamped "J. Glickman – Gift". As the latter appears on many items bound in hard blue covers, it's possible that Glickman was Kruse's binder. Some pieces have handwritten dedications to Kruse from the composer.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the Library in 1996 by Gail Wissmann on behalf of the Music Library of the University of Melbourne.
