Content Summary:

In full morocco covers. The pamphlet preserved as issued. Inserted: Typewritten letter initialled "A.G.S." to the Director of Education, Melbourne, October 1929, granting permission to the Department to reprint Granny Sullivan in any reading book used in the schools. Writing in his Autobiography in 1934, Shaw Neilson says: "...I must admit that sometimes I am rather puzzled why the Victorian Government in it's School Paper should be rather afraid of my verse. That little publication has been running for many years. During that time it has given to the children many good things but it has also put out much Australian verse of little value. Perhaps my verse is not suitable for children".
