Original yellow wrappers. Inscribed upon cover by the composer to H.F. Chaplin. The orange tree Lady Northcote Trust Fund, Melbourne. 1954. Setting for voice, clarinet, and piano, by Margaret Sutherland. Original gray wrappers. Inscribed upon title by the composer to H.F. Chaplin.
Both the above items bound together in quarter leather folder together with autograph letters from the composer to H.F. Chaplin. These refer to the compositions and their publication.
Inserted also are three letters from Shaw Neilson to J.K. Moir in which the poet mentions the setting to music of various poems. The letters contain much of personal interest. One letter: "Most people of course don't know that I get the Literary Pension and I don't broadcast it because some folks might not think I need it. I can assure you that without it I would have been very much up against it during the depression years...I really should have saved money but the calls upon me have been many...I mention these things to you so that you may clearly understand that it is necessary for me to hang on to my job as long as I can..."
