Scrap Book Large album. 114pp

Component identifier:
Item 97
Content Summary:

Contains letters by Professor A.R. Chisholm, J.J. Quinn, R.R. Kidston, Richard Pennington, John Tierney, Sir Daryl Lindsay, The Hon. Paul Hasluck, J.K. Moir, Bertram Stevens, James Devaney, and others, all relative to Brennan, and his work.

Two letters are inserted from H.H. Champion to J. Le Gay Brereton, May 1917, which relate to a poem by Furnley Maurice, "To God: from the Weary Nations". Champion asks Brereton, "I wish you would tell me (my taste can hardly pretend to distinguish at present between a yowl of anguish and a noble and dignified protest) whether the lines are in the best sense poetry or not". In another letter he writes that he has forwarded a copy of "To God" to Chris: Brennan asking him for his opinion.

The album is closely packed with extracts from journals, articles about Brennan, reviews, etc. A very extensive Brennan miscellany.
