Jim Fraser came to Canberra in 1946 after discharge from Army service and joined the Department of Information as a journalist. In February 1948 as an A1 Grade journalist he was appointed Press Secretary to Senator Nicholas McKenna, Minister for Health and Social Services. After the defeat of the Labor Government in 1949 Fraser remained on McKenna's staff as his private secretary. This series contains speeches and articles written by Fraser during this period on behalf of Senator McKenna.
There is also a series of articles entitled "Arts in Australia" (1947) and a number of biographical sketches of parliamentarians and others/1946-1947).
