Diaries
- Component identifier:
- Series 1
- Content Summary:
- The diaries were begun in 1907 at the age of fifteen when Isla Chomley sailed to England on the S.S. Runic. The diaries cover the Chomley family's early years in London (C.H. Chomley was editor of The British Australian), the First World War years when Isla was a member of the Women's Land Army and Isla's marriage to J.W. Marsh and return to Australia. Apart from a major break between 1942 and 1954 the diaries are a virtually unbroken chronicle of Isla Marsh's life. The last diary was written in 1984. Some diaries appear to be little more than appointment books but have been included in Series 1 if any other comments have been written as well.
