Content Summary:
In 1972 the Australian National University announced it would establish a Humanities Research Centre. An Advisory Committee was appointed and in April 1973 it resolved to appoint J.J. Graneek to compile a bibliography of desiderata, while Burmester would compile specialist bibliographies. He worked as a part-time bibliographical adviser for about three years. As well as making regular recommendations on additions to the Centre's library, he compiled reports and bibliographies on such subjects as research materials on history and the humanities in Canberra libraries, music resources in Canberra libraries, and American literature. Some of the bibliographies may be found in this series, together with letters and business papers. The correspondents include Ian Donaldson, the Director of the Centre, and R.J.C. Horan.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated by C.A. Burmester in many instalments between 1976 and 1989.
