Content Summary:

The collection comprises papers on the role, planning, development, staffing, and organisation of the University of Papua New Guinea, and inaugural lectures, guides, site plans, and papers on staff development and localisation by Sloper. There are also papers on the development of the Teachers College at Goroka including submissions for funds, the 1975 budget, course structure, and a history of Goroka. Sloper was a staff member at both the University of Papua New Guinea and the Teacher’s College, which was amalgamated with the University in 1975.

Subjects include higher education in PNG, adult education, administrative staffing, women’s education, localisation (replacement of repatriates and job- placement of locals), Port Moresby Dental Clinic and Goroka Teachers College.

The collection was donated to the Library by David Sloper through the University of New England Archives in 1997
