Content Summary:

Correspondence of a general nature covering the organisation and operation of the journal forms a large part of this series. It also contains correspondence between co-editors John Williams and John Bannon and the National Council for the Centenary of Federation. Also included is the Grant Deed for Federal Government funds and details of smaller grants from the South Australian Government to produce The New Federalist. Routine office material comprising accounts, invoices, receipts and subscription lists form a large part of this series.

The series also contains images of Henry Lawson and Louisa Lawson, Andrew Inglis Clark, Adelaide Ironside, members of the Australasian Federation Convention, Donald Horne, Justice Lionel Murphy and Justices of the High Court (1989-1995). An early cartoon from The Bulletin is included together with copies of photographs of 'Celebrations of the first day of the new Nation, 1 January 1901' and 'First Sitting of the High Court of Australia' (1903).

Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the Library in 2004 by Dr John Williams (Australian National University) and the Hon John Bannon (former premier of South Australia)
