- The Soil Conservation Research Station at Cowra, established in 1939, is the chief organisation covered in these papers. It was the first one in Australia to serve the requirements of the mixed farming and grazing areas of the central west of NSW. H. A. F. was a foundation officer in 1939 and its first director in 1940. Others mentioned are the Stations at Junee and Wagga. H. A. F. was appointed director of the latter in 1947
