Box 27
Component identifier:
Series 10
Content Summary:

The Canberra Lottery was established by the Foundation with the approval of the Department of the Capital Territory to raise funds for centres for youth. The first lottery was drawn in March 1972 after a Lottery Office was established and staff employed. One percent of all tickets sales were distributed to charities within the ACT catering entirely for youth. Because of pressure from the sale of other lotteries in the ACT, the Canberra Lottery closed in 1980.

In addition to the folders listed below, the series contains folio items of volumes of lottery results, receipts for payment of prize money (1972-1980), records of payments for the lottery (1972-1980) and samples of unused cheques.
