Content Summary:

The photographs in this collection summarise Boyd's dancing career, from his performance at the age of 9 in 'Russian' dance, at Lillingstone School Annual Concert Mosman; to his performances in Lady into Fox, Balalaika, Giselle Oklahoma! and La Boutique Fantasque. Recent photographs include events such as the Borovansky reunion, attended by dancers such as Peggy Sager and Barry Kitcher. A framed photograph shows Sally Gilmore, Charles Boyd and Basil Truro with artists of Ballet Rambert (Australasian tour) in Giselle (Photograph MS 9732/28).

This series also includes an album of photographs. Photos in the album include Boyd, Leo Kersley and Angela Dukes (?) 1938; Simple Symphony filmed on the Gold Coast in 1947; Boyd, Sally Gilmour, Annette Chapelle, Cecil Bates and Miro Zlock in Rotorua, 1948; Margaret Hill, Boyd and Annette Chapelle in the Melbourne premiere of Winters Nigh, 1948.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The Papers of Charles Boyd were donated to the Library by Charles Boyd on 25 March 2002. Further material donated by Boyd was added to the collection in 2022.
