- Boyd's diaries show that he received many thousands of letters during his residence in Rome, 1957-1972. It is not clear why he retained the ones he did, although he does seem to have kept letters concerning Why They Walk Out. The correspondents include members of the Boyd family, Sir Walter Crocker, Australian Ambassador to Italy, 1967-1970, many of Boyd's friends, e.g. Alan Shadwick, Hugh Fausset, Joan Burnett, Dallas Kenmare; Australian academics such as Dorothy Green, Brian Elliott, and Leonie Kramer, and editorial staff from Lansdowne Press. Comprises Folders 1-12.
