Content Summary:

In 1879 Casey assisted police in the capture of the 'Hatfield bushrangers' who had held up a store in that village. He received commendation from the government for his part in their capture.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The Casey Papers were obtained over a number of years following the death of Lord Casey in 1976. They were received initially from Lady Casey and subsequently from her daughter Mrs Jane MacGowan, as well as from Dr W.J. Hudson.
