- Content Summary:
- After a cancer diagnosis, seeming recovery; looking back on their early lives; "They say that surviving cancer changes you. I wouldn't say that it's changed me; what it has done is to make me value the visible world even more, and value my friends. My life has been uneven, but I'm glad of all the good memories, and you figure in many of these. Ours was an important friendship - certainly for me - and sits at the centre of our lives. ... As well, I'll always be grateful for the part you played in launching The Year [of Living Dangerously], the book that changed my life, when you took it to B[eatrice] Davis at Nelson."
