He came to live in Paris in 1890 and was a friend of artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, Eduard Degas and Paul Gauguin and many others. In the late nineteenth century he moved to southern Spain but in 1906 he set up a new studio in Paris at 54 rue Caulaincourt and exhibited with great success in Paris, the United States, Mexico, Chile, Buenos Aires and in Italy. He returned to Spain in 1925 and continued to work until his death in 1945.]
