- The series consists of letters of congratulation and commentary on Scott's many published works. The principal correspondents are C.E.W. Bean and Clive Wigram (concerning Scott's work Australia during the War), E.A. Benians and S.H. Roberts (concerning Scott's editorial work and research for the Cambridge History of the British Empire volume on Australia), and Lady Gwendolen Cecil (concerning Scott's work on her father's goldfield diary). The letters are arranged chronologically. Comprising Items 1-66 Cuttings, handwritten, and post cards found in books which accompanying Scott's papers complete the series (Comprising Items 67-85).
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The papers of Sir Ernest and Lady Scott, together with a small number of books, were presented to the Library in 1958 by Miss Diana Dyason, Lady Scott's niece. They had been examined by Lady Scott in 1956, the year before her death, and many items carry her explanatory notes.
