- The Australian Inland Mission was originally created under the auspices of the Federal Home Mission Committee (1912). Certain Home Mission activities which were beyond the normal scope of the State Home Mission Committees were undertaken from time to time by the A.I.M. according to mutually agreed arrangements. In September 1951 the Federal Home Mission Committee was discharged by the General Assembly of Australia and its work and responsibilities transferred entirely to the A.I.M. Board.
