The chief executive of the Australian Ballet was designated as Company Manager until 1968 when the name was changed to Administrator. With the expansion of the Australian Ballet some of the duties of the Company manager were later transferred to the position of Tour Manager. See Series 5. The first Company Manager/Administrator was Peter F. Behan, 1962-1983. In 1983 Noel Pelly became the Administrator, succeeded by Ian McRae in 1991.
The records include business and a small amount of personal correspondence, many inter-office minutes and memos, schedules and a few programmes. Whilst some of the first Box listed in this series cover the period from 1963-1970s mostly the material is from the 1980s. Correspondents include Sir Robert Helpmann.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The first consignment of MS 7559 was transferred by the Australian Ballet in 1988 (Box 1-251), with an addition in 1996. Subsequent consignments were received in 2002, 2007 and 2009.
