Robert Ross (Ross's father) was editor of various newspapers and magazines. This series consists of various issues of these newspapers and others relating to socialism and labour. They include the Australian Worker, Barrier Truth, Butchers' Journal, The Champion, Labor Call, Queensland Sportsman, Ross's Magazine, Socialist and Union Voice. Some of the holdings are quite substantial while others are only one-off issues.

This series comprises 21 boxes.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were purchased from Lloyd Ross by the National Library in three instalments in 1974, 1979 and 1982. Further instalments were received after his death, in 1988 and 1991.
