Eggleston was held in high regard as commentator on world affairs and the editors of the Age and the Herald often requested articles by him. He contributed to many journals both as a commentator and a reviewer. His letters to the Editor cover his last years 1951-1954 and include the subjects of rural marketing, parliamentary salaries and local government finance.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were received from the family of Sir Frederic Eggleston after his death in 1954.
